THIS IS MUTINY MR CHRISTIAN!

Hello,

My pal Justin "moritat" Norman is in town we went out last night with james and Marley to
get our conan on. It's this spot downtown where they bring you big
things of raw meat and you cook them yourself. You know that thing where a kid is caught
smoking and he's made to chain-smoke until he pukes?
I think that happened with food for me. I'm off the stuff for good, I swear.

Justin is staying downtown in a hotel that is so sissy even the hallway walls have skirts on
if you try to enter without a little yapping dog one will be provided.

So Marian got a shitload of commissions last week, Thanks to mr. Warren Ellis mentioning it to the masses he controls with his mind. (they are keeping red bull in business I think)
One of the things she was asked to draw was the cover to the Barbarian revenge comic that shows up in Multiple warheads.

and here's a quick Sexica pencil drawing I did.

Everyone who has seen this is struck by me not dressing her up like a child prostitute.
It's a brand new day.

Mostly I've been working on King city and it keeps getting longer and might have to be some
double sized issues near the end or something.
I'm really enjoying listening to science fiction audio books while I draw all
the nonsense details in these.

These are not quite done yet. I think. The tones are a little rough still.

I put an Oh daphny sign in that one.

Here's this old Black magic m-66 era shirow thing where it looks like they tried to update it by making the cassete into a CD.

Cd's are massively less cool.

Here's a new interview I did on broken frontier. I was really impressed with the questions Bart Croonenborghs asked.
http://www.brokenfrontier.com/lowdown/p/detail/brandon-graham-talks-king-city-and-euro-art

and an interview from my good pal James Stokoe.

and now I will get coffee.

Oh man alive my comission looks so awesome, I love hows she's resting the blade edge down on her shoulder that's hardcore.
I was wondering where you get all you building ideas from. There's so much awesome in there.

Love Marian's Barbarian Revenge cover!
I know what you mean bout sci-fi audio books, I'd go crazy without that kinda thing on this storyboard job.

Got a great audiobook of John Wyndham's Day of the Triffids. FANTASTIC end of the world/killer walking plants/planet of blind people kinda story.

If you haven't read/heard it yet, I heartily recommend it.

I've heard of Triffids but never read/listened to it.
I will get on that.
Thanks.

You may be swearing off meat now, but if you come visit B'more, I'll have to change that. There's this restaurant--Fogo de Chao--where it's all you can eat meat. I haven't been yet, but my brother said it's totally fuckin' awesome.

That lion graffiti in that KC panel makes me think a lot of Bad Brains and H.R. I always love looking for the little, tiny details in your panels, the little homages and whatnot. How you can put so much detail into a single panel amazes me.

Inane

Ditto to Fogo de Chao. That place is the like the Vegas buffet of meat brought to your table. There a place in NYC called Green Fields, and I swear I had 10 different animals. One plate I called 'buggs and daffy' mmmmmm....

haven't read such a good interview about a comic artist in a long time. most interviews are mostly very 'simple' when it comes to comics. hm
i really liked the part about you talking about how you work detail and gave me some hope. i myself love detailing but sometimes tend to overkill it. just last week a new comic came out and all said it was one of the best in the book aso..., but i should work on not to overkill my work.
so yes, was a great read.

your city scapes are getting more awesome from post to post and i envy ol' Daphny hehe

oh and thanks again for the fave of my Monolith spacestation and the kind words!

The god is in the details.

I am certain that I have no idea how King City is going to end, only that it will be the craziest thing.

You know, Jog Likes Comics totally loved your comic back when it first came out at Tokyopop, but I never picked it up. But now that you dropped a Daphny reference I will buy up all of it on principle.
